As per Alberta Fire Code, Portable Fire Extinguishers must be maintained in operable condition, and must be inspected and tested in accordance with NFPA 10.
Fire Extinguishers are required to be inspected yearly by a certified technician employed by a certified shop.
All RTS Fire & Safety Technicians are certified in the Inspection and Maintenance or Fire Extinguisher Equipment.
RTS Fire & Safety is certified to perform the inspections plus refill/recharges, maintenance, and necessary repairs. The inspection is best performed on site, which allows the technician to assess proper coverage of the structure and identify hazards in addition to checking the condition of the extinguisher itself.
The size of the facility and number of portable Extinguishers will determine the time to properly inspect the facility. It can takes a couple minutes to inspect and certify a Portable Fire Extinguisher, but to properly document will take longer.
Any Portable Extinguishers found that require Recharge, Refill, Maintenance, Hydro-Testing, or Repairs will be noted on the report.
RTS Fire & Safety is committed to ensuring the customers maintenance cost is capped at the value of a new replacement extinguisher of the same size and type.
This ensures the customer is not paying more for service than a new replacement would cost.
